About

Artist Tran Ngoc Anh was born in 1983 in Hanoi, the capital and cradle of Vietnamese culture and art. From a young age, the female artist showed a strong passion for painting, winning many domestic and international awards from an early age. As a student from young time of the famous lacquer painter Cong Kim Hoa, Ngoc Anh has a special passion for traditional lacquer material. Determined to pursue this medium, she studied at Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts, one of the most prestigious art Universities in Vietnam. In 2008, Tran Ngoc Anh graduated with a major in lacquer painting. In 2018, she completed her master's degree at the Central University of Pedagogy for Arts. By 2024, she became a member of the Vietnam Fine Art Accosiation.

After many years working as a stage design painter at VTV (Vietnamese Television, Ngoc Anh still nurtured her dream of becoming a lacquer painter and pursuing her passion from youth. This first solo exhibition “Tự Tại Chi Tọa” – Sanctuary of Serenity marks a turning point in her artistic journey and her conquest of lacquer material. At the same time, she wants to introduce and express her love for lacquer to art lovers.

Ngoc Anh’s art works explore familiar themes in social life: nature, plants, cats, chairs... creating a warm, intimate, and poetic space that reflects the dreamy, feminine soul of the painter.

In 2023, Ngoc Anh participated in a lacquer painting group exhibition in Amboise, France. In 2022 and 2024, she joined workshop Hanoi Art and Connecting and participated workshop Etugen Art Camp in Mogolia 2025. And this year September 2025, Ngoc Anh held her first solo exhibition titled: "Tự tại chi tọa."
